Beaumont Residential Care

Substantial extensions to an existing 41 bed nursing home providing an additional 32 bedrooms and a number of new living rooms set around two courtyards.
A key objective was to provide a facility that is non-institutional – more a home than a hospital.
There are three extensions to the existing building which have been designed to improve interconnectivity of bedroom wings and a distribution of living space throughout.
The planning of spaces and facade treatment are highly articulated, providing internal features such as projecting window seats to all new bedrooms and a number of bay windows to the new living areas.
In the new extensions corridor lengths have been minimised. Where corridors change direction careful attention has been given to the provision of day light and views of the courtyards and gardens.
